Moss Off Roof
Licensed and Insured Roof Moss Cleaning

Moss is a common problem that can affect roofs in the Pacific Northwest as  it can have a negative impact on the health of your roof. As a professional roof cleaning company, we know that it is important to understand the dangers of moss and why it should be removed from your roof as soon as possible.

One of the primary reasons why moss is bad for your roof is that it can cause damage to your shingles. Moss tends to grow in damp and shaded areas, and as it grows, it can lift and loosen the shingles on your roof. This can create gaps in your roof, which can allow water to penetrate into your home or business and cause costly water damage.

Moss can also reduce the lifespan of your roof. As it grows and spreads, it can create a layer of insulation that traps moisture against the surface of your roof. This can accelerate the breakdown of the shingles and cause them to deteriorate more quickly. Over time, this can lead to the need for costly roof repairs or even a complete roof replacement.

Another reason why moss is bad for your roof is that it can be unsightly. Moss can create a green or black appearance on your roof, which can detract from the curb appeal of your home or business. This can be especially problematic if you are trying to sell your property, as a mossy roof can turn off potential buyers.

How we remove moss:

Professional roof cleaning services in Gig Harbor, WA

Our process is set up to keep your roof in good shape while still removing the moss; we never use pressure washers which can damage your roof.

  1. We utilize stiff bristled brushes to accurately remove the moss from the edges of your shingles where moss is most likely to grow (see picture above). As we complete this process we loosen all the big clumps of moss from your roof.
  2. Once this is done, we use blow off the loose moss from your roof with backpack blowers. In this process the gutters may fill with moss, and this is why our roof cleanings always come with a full gutter cleaning included.
  3. Blowing the moss off the roof is necessary but it can make a big mess, but we always clean the grounds around the house until they look the same as or better than when we arrived.
  4. Lastly, we apply a layer of moss control powder to your roof to make sure the job is done thoroughly.

Overall, if you have moss on your roof, it is essential to have it removed by a professional roof cleaning company as soon as possible. At our company, we use specialized equipment and techniques to safely and effectively remove moss from your roof, helping to protect its integrity and extend its lifespan.
